He was Yamamoto without being gifted top 6 minutes in the NHL.
They were 6 months apart in age and pretty much had the same production at every stage of their careers
In 18-19 and 19-20 through their first two seasons in the AHL.
Phillips: 71 points in 103 games - 0.69 PPG
Yamamoto: 34 points in 50 games - 0.68 PPG
Yamamoto was thrown into top 6 minutes on Draisaitl's wing since then, and has been an effective player at times for them.
I do think that they are very, very similar players. One guy was just given an opportunity (and TBH I don't think Yamamoto neccessarily earned it, just got lucky that Oilers had injuries and he worked on Draisaitl's wing)
