Further to the Marchessault example, he was 26 when he finally made the NHL full time. His junior and AHL numbers are comparable to what Phillips put up.
Obviously Marchessault is the exception and big story with him is how rare is it for an undersized player to make it, especially when they are going into their mid-20s, so I am not convinced Phillips will do the same thing. I think it's worth seeing through though and giving him a trail by fire.
