Interesting. I have a microplane, and it's awesome. My biggest use case is zesting lemons. I don't think that would be faster than a garlic press though- cut off end, pull off peel, insert into press, press. Takes under 10 seconds. Although after grating my fingers a few times I maybe grate slower than others....
