Some of the girls at work talk about those two shows, and the conversation basically goes "omg I can't believe blah blah did that" and "omg like blah blah like omg" and hence my disdain for those shows. I personally don't need to live vicariously through some spoiled rich teenagers life, but hey that's just me.
