So, in January when the dome is full with people who have Gaudreau stitched on the back, are those people not allowed to boo him either? That would be really rude after all, right? We can't have that.. how embarrassing for fans to show some emotion after they spent their money to put his name on their jersey and after 9 seasons he walks with no regard for how that would handcuff the team.. they have no right!
Take a look at other sports around the world and how they welcome back players who didn't put the team/club first. This is what it's all about - passion for your team. Boo him if you want, or cheer for him if you want, it's entirely up to you, but it doesn't make someone "petty" or "toxic" to boo the guy. (also this isn't aimed at you, but other's who have said its petty or toxic to boo Gaudreau).
For me, I loved when Tavares went back to the Island and heard it from the fans all night, it became must watch tv.
