Tanev would garner a very nice return. He'll be 33 in December and is coming off shoulder surgery. Also, like Hanifin, he is on a good contract that has only one more year on it. But I don't see his name in proposals.

Weegar is a stud who would generate a huge return. And he is a UFA after this season. No proposals.

Andersson is the same age as Hanifin, is a similar skill level, has a similar cap hit, and his contract has 3 more years after this one. He would probably return more than Hanifin. But no proposals ere either.
Probably PTSD on the American 🇺🇸 superstar wingers bouncing. I don’t fault anyone putting Hanifin in proposals for that reason, but I also don’t fault anyone defending Hanifin. He seems like he would stay here, for the right price. Personally, I am waiting out this season on what to do with Hanifin, here’s why:

1) No guarantee Weegar stays.
2) Kylington’s game could become stagnant
3) Tanev has an injury history

Hanifin’s salary demands could also be outlandish, which could be an easy boot out the door. Or, Kylington forced our hand. I do think we’ve been pretty fortunate with injuries (excluding the postseason), but regular season we’ve been pretty fortunate. Assuming the law of average occurs, I could very well see an injury to a defenseman very early. And we’d be crying for Hanifin back if we traded him away.
