It could be negative value for u to 4 years IMO. But by how much?
We have Lucic who is about $3 to $4 mil over paid but have a bunch of guys under paid too. As the cap goes up some of these low level ELC's are so valuable. Drafting good players outside of the top 10 players in the draft is so valuable as they just don't make much and don't get huge bonuses and quite often get better 2nd contracts that top drafted players
Mangiapane vs Puljujarvi as an example
Mangiapane is 2 years older and has the same amount of career games and took a 35 goal season to finally get paid. His previous contracts were a steal
Puljujarvi makes 3 mil on a 30+ point season. His draft position contributes to his contract IMO. Bennett got more than Mangiapane as well early in his career proving far less than Mangiapane did early on
Kadri might have negative value even in 2 years but $1 mil overpaid can be managed. As long as he plays close to his deal this team will be fine if they draft well
