I thought that too, but now I completely disagree. But depends on job, location, and under what type of terms/contract you left. California and certain job levels it definitely applies. I'm pretty sure a non compete contract is valid anywhere if you received a payout upon leaving. If Rogers wasn't willing to give Boomer a severance, then he is a free agent.
