Watching Bo Bichette smash balls opposite field last night had me thinking, who benefits from the change here? It's not Bo and hitters like him. Defences have to respect Bo because he can put the ball all over the field (or in classic baseball terms, "hit it where they ain't"). I would rather have college and minor league players aspire to be that kind of hitter. I would rather teams prioritise drafting and developing multi-dimensional hitters. I would rather watch a league of Bo Bichettes than a league of Daniel Vogelbachs.
