They chose not to pay 2 guys who will be 30 or turning 30 when their extensions start and flipped them for a 24 year old who was the youngest player in the top 20 scorers in the league this year. They made their core younger by signing a 24 year old instead of extending a guy who will be 30 when he needs a new contract. It makes sense to me when you can only afford to pay 2-3 guys 10M to try and lock guys in for their prime years instead of paying them throughout their 30’s.
I get what you are saying but their two best players are still in their late 20s they should be going for it not taking a step back which I think they have. They might be better off in four years than they would have been but I doubt they will get back to that high level. You can't blowup your team because of a bad 2nd round after dominating the league over 82

Ask Tampa, ask the Avs ect.

If Florida goes to a final or wins a cup in the next few years it's worth it, I just don't see how they improve enough. I also think Tkachuk is over rated big time though. If he is a 90+ point guy every season then maybe it makes more sense but he has scored over 61 points twice. Over 77 one time.

We are gonna have to agree to disagree though all points have been made I think
