You’d have to be a complete idiot to have your windows open all afternoon on a day like yesterday or today, that’s true. I am one of the unwashed (no AC) which means I have my windows open at some point during the day or night on most days from about April to October, and it’s certainly not on days that are 30 degrees and smoky. Why? Because I don’t want it to be over 30 in my house (air temperature plus baking in the sun) and I don’t want my house filled with smoke. That’s basic common sense. Saying you can’t open your windows for 9 months of the year which is why you need to open them when it’s smoky is dumb.
Though, so is “you only need AC 3 days a year.” You don’t likely need AC on any days of the year, but it would sure make things more comfortable on a lot more than 3 of them.
