Sure, there's a time and phase for dabbling but as far as a method for coping/relaxing, there is a multitude of better things that won't dull your mind and make you smell terrible wherever you go the rest of the day.
In public spaces it's frankly just gross and distracting, and not in a good way.
If you indulge at home and then actually put on fresh clothes and freshen yourself up before going out again then respect to you. That seems like a sensible way to go about it, at least.

buuuuuuuut I think you're overexaggerating the impacts of cannabis. I dont think I've ever really smelt it on anyone who hasn't actively been smoking it in the last minute or so - and if I have, way less prevalent than tobacco smoke and how smokers reek for miles.
I'd say clothing/person smell wise - tobacco is way worse
Active burning smoke smell - tobacco worse again
Annoyingness and impact on others based on your behaviors under the influence - alcohol by a wide margin.
I can see weed smell being annoying if you're subject to it at a campground, but I'd take that smell any day of the week over cigarette smoke.
