I like to think of how many slams Fed would have racked up if he played during a regular era instead of mostly with the top 2 players in history. but then it starts to drive me bananas and I just accept that's how sports is, sometimes (most of the time actually) your favorite just doesn't get the optimal path. Nadal fans could wonder what his total would be without all his serious injuries and foot condition. Djokovic fans could dream of a timeline where he isn't a bread kryptonite holy water wacko.
the what ifs for Seles go the other way too. Graf was still in her early 20's at the time and had enough runway to figure out how to change that matchup. if Capriati didn't run into (or start off with) all the personal issues then she could have taken a much bigger chunk of the pie from that era too.
