Breast cancer is ridiculously commercialized. My wife battled lymphoma and was always devestated that the majority of public support was given towards breast cancer at the detriment of other forms of the disease. Cancer is devestating on its own right, breast cancer included, but research and charity cannot and should not be geared towards a specific group just because they are a prime marketing target. Breast cancer is a horrible problem, but remember that 1 in 9 women face it, while 1 in 3 people will face cancer at some points in their lives. Perspective is required. "Pink Ribbons" is an excellent book by a woman at Queens which targets the little talked about over-commercialization of breast cancer.
