There's some confusion here. WWE can talk to anyone under an AEW contract all they want (and vice versa). They are independent contractors. While they cannot ask them to break their contract, they can call them every day and say "We are interested in signing you when your contract is up. When is your contract up?"

There is nothing illegal about this. There are rules in most major sport leagues and players unions that prevent this, which is why we consider tampering a thing. Khan's threat to the other Khan is toothless, unless someone breaks their contract with AEW at the request of WWE.

AEW is hitting their first real rough patch. Stars are upset with not being used. The wrestlers with control and influence are doing or saying things driven by ego instead of what's best for the business. The on screen product is losing some of that hard hitting luster, becoming overly reliant on gimmick matches and weak finishes.

The first one and the last one are pretty easy to fix. The middle one is always more problematic for me, but I didn't live during the territory days when the boys having a lot of control was more common. My life time for the boys having a lot of say was the death of WCW, TNA and WWEs reign of hell. None of those were enjoyable products.
