Even Jeff Bezos has a lot of his wealth tied up in Amazon stock and and other assets that are not easily converted to cash. I read that although his net worth is over $200 billion, his cash on hand is actually between $50-100 million. Of course, there would be pretty liberal limits on how much he could borrow probably. It's been said that when you consider cash on hand, Floyd Mayweather is actually more wealthy that Jeff Bezos. I am not sure if that is just a myth though.
There is no doubt that Calgary needs a new arena very soon if the city wants to host an NHL team. I would say that if ground doesn't break with 5 years, that will be it, and it's not like it's going to get cheaper.
