I can't like this part enough, as I think it is easily the most defining part of oiler fandom. They want so badly to be the best in every category, and they think they should win every award ever. They are genuinely salty that Tre managed to do anything to salvage the roster because they expected Calgary to sink after losing our two top scorers (who magically went from impossible to win with to elite unstoppable talent the moment they went elsewhere), and they are even more upset that their team isn't the talk of the town, with all their legendary roster moves like *checks notes* resigning a player maligned in the league who still told them he was checking free agency first, and signing Janmark and Campbell. They have no awareness that McDavid and Draisaitl were obvious picks, and not some hidden gems found through deep scouting and player development. For them, their roster is built through sheer hockey intelligence and gumption and no team has managed to build a team quite like it, and it has nothing at all with being so overly rewarded for being no good that the league had to change draft lottery rules.
