Hanifin should stay unless we get a top line winger. IMO if he snags that we can look at a cheap rental to replace Hanfin. IMO Weegar already is probably the Hanifin replacment. Getting a good rental dman some time before the trade deadline maximizes our chances of winning this year which seems like the plan based on Treliving's moves.

If we added Barzal our d is ok still as IMO Weegar is just as good as Hanifin if not better.

Weegar also had 3 points on the PP last year. He was 11th in EVP for d last year. He gets a bump in PP time, he's a 60 point dman. I really believe our d is much more improved than most are suggesting
If we move Hanifin for a winger I wouldn’t add another Dman they already have 10 guys on one way contracts. I do think this team needs another right shot up front as right now they only have Lindholm, Toffoli in the top 6 that do that. I do think Kessel is an upgrade on those 2 forwards (Pelletier and Dube) and knowing Sutter I just don’t see the Flames leaving a spot open for a prospect on the roster. We will see but I do think the flames make another move for a right shot forward. Maybe Rodriguez if not Kessel?

If they make a trade I doubt it is one of the top end guys I think they like having upgraded the D. Valimaki for a similar forward also makes sense to me. If it wasn’t the Oilers I think Puljujarvi makes sense but because it is the Oilers I don’t think they make that deal with us
