Over the last 3 years, Backlund has 88 EVP and Nuge has 74. And Backlund is much better defensively. The only thing Nuge has on him is PP points (67 to 23) and that is simply a function of the fact that RNH has spent a lot of time on their top PP (because they have only had 3 players until last year).

RNH is on the PP because he's a strong PP producer. Very good puck distributor when given time and space. He's definitely not a passenger on the PP. RNH does struggle to produce at 5on5, but he's pretty responsible defensively while not being great on that side of the puck.
I think Flames fans are tending to overrate Kadri's two-way ability. When you look at his career numbers he is under 50% on GF and xGF at the end of a season as often as he is over 50%. He also doesn't PK very much at all which is pretty uncommon for the best defensive centers in the league. I think the fact that he is physical/pesty makes some fans give him more credit defensively than he deserves.
