I mean, at this point it wouldn't shock me to see Kessel signed for 1 year at or near the minimum. What makes me wonder thouygh would be his usage. Phil thrived once he wasn't "the guy" in Toronto. This has been brought up a million times over his career I'm sure. Once he could settle on a 3rd line in Pittsburgh he was great. Less so in Arizona, but that was a bad team too.
Here? Would be be on Backlund's wing on the 3rd line? Probably not. So that puts him in the top 6. Where once again he'd be looked at as at least "one of the top guys". In a hockey mad market.
