I think they just go into the UFA market, sign one of the wingers (Rodrigues, Milano, Kessel). No need to expend assets on a trade. Flames can then run with 22 with the AHL team in CGY.
I personally like Kessel. He scored 52 points while giving less than full effort on a terrible team. But he is mega-talented and can elevate when necessary. See Penguins playoff runs as an example.
