Ridiculous take, what mess did he create exactly? Players wanting to leave based on family or tax reasons is not his mess. He has upgraded the top 6 by adding Kadri which enables Backlund to be the 3c. Replaced Johnny with John (bigger, just as good of a playmaker and will actually drive to the net, also the same age). Upgraded the D big time with Weeger which may allow another move to benefit the forward group. You moved Monaghan who is a declining player to add a legit top 6 C who is faster and grittier than Sean. This team is now better down the middle and at D which are major positions to have strength in. The cap will likely be near 100 million in 5 or so years and these deals will not seem like such an issue, and forecasting the team situation 5 years from now is a fools errand.
