In effect, Tre playing with the extra 1st round pick he got from Florida to move Monahan. The opportunity-cost is signing Kadri. Given that he wants Kadri, this is a decent way to do it and is primarily funded by the great return he got for Tkachuk.

Yeah, he gave himself a little more protection than in the Hamonic trade, where he probably expected a high 20s pick and it turned into a mid-teens pick.
