It's the perpetual double standards they have. Their top year players they paid too much for (looking at you, Nurse!) are just beginning and will never regress! But the flames players who have a breakout year were lucky or it's unsustainable and they will be washed out of the league next year.
The day after the playoffs, all they could talk about is how useless our core was and that we would never get better and that those guys probably aren't top players in the league. I even saw a few posts in HFoil about magic sign and trade with double retention that put Kadri in edmonton among with all their other magical double retention trade deals they propose up their. Then he signs and it's just like Huberdeau, with claims that he will never have success here and he isn't that good anyways.
Fun fact, was browsing through their forums today and they are not worried about Mackinnon's contract influencing DrySaddle's next contract because a: He will take a paycut to help the oilers win a cup so it won't matter what Nate gets, and b: Mackinnon might even tell Colorado to get stuffed and take a lower deal in Edmonton because now that he has a cup, he will want to play with McDavid.
