I spent most of life thinking "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" and was really liberated when I learnt that breakfast isn't necessary at all. It's not needed for energy, as one has a full night's rest fueling them. What really counts is the calories, nutrients, etc. consumed in a day and there also seems to be a benefit to consuming them in as short of a time frame as possible. So there is good reason not to eat breakfast at all. My favourite time to workout is first thing in the morning on an empty belly.
I was also interested to learn that black coffee/tea has no calories and do not break your morning fast (it takes ~50 calories to break a fast), but they will end "gut rest", where your guts start up but you're still fasting.
