Default Any podiatrists or foot surgeons in the house?

Hi all,

I had a freak accident a few weeks ago and stepped off some steps onto some really uneven ground outside a restaurant in Calgary. Twisted my foot really bad and felt something pop/crack etc.

I figured it was a rolled ankle or a foot and spent the dinner and the next day icing it but it never really swelled up at all. Couldn't put any weight onto it and I had a trip to NYC the next day for a friends wedding.

I went to the ER, got some X-Rays and the ER doc indicated a broken bone in foot and confirmed by radiological report as "in line with fracture" Wanted me in a full cast. Nurse was surprised as they don't do casts very often anymore, Air Cast more likely. I indicated wedding, trip etc. Went with Air Cast and a lack of confidence in what I heard.

I went and saw a top rated podiatrist in Manhattan, indicated more of a soft tissue type of injury on the foot, took x-rays using a Soviet Era Relic of a machine and indicated a possible but unlikely break in a different bone of the foot.

Came back to Calgary and saw 2 different Podiatrists at the same clinic and showed them emailed X-rays from NY since they don't have easy access to Alberta health records. Both indicated that low likelihood of a break and soft tissue most likely. I really haven't made any real gains with the pain, the movement or the healing and I am going into my 3rd week, all while missing work.

Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions or some other foot specialists for another opinion? Family Dr is away for a few weeks and Dr covering him pretty much blew me off. I want this to heal properly and quickly regardless of what this is and don't want long term issues like a lot of people do. Don't know what the best course of action is.

Thanks
