It wasn’t hindsight. Even in game 1 where we were absolutely battering the Oilers, Markstrom was terrible. His performance was so bad that it provided the Oilers with hope even though they conceded nine.
I like Markstrom, but it was crystal clear from the outset that he was struggling.
There was plenty of opportunity and a body of evidence early on, that pointed to the need to change the goalie.
People were crying out for a change throughout the series. Maybe it wouldn’t have improved things, but it objectively couldn’t have worked out worse.
