I think in that case the Flames wouldn’t have any cap hit, Lucic could sign a 1 year, $1M deal wherever he wants (Boston), and Lucic likely isn’t out any money because he was only owed $1M for next year anyways.

I don’t think that is allowed under the CBA but may be wrong. Otherwise it’s too obvious of an idea for both parties I would think
