Big Z is a great hitter and big, but he is a not a very good fighter at all.
It will be tough for the Flames to lose two heavies like Gudbrandson(where a case could be made that he is a top 5 fighter) and Lucic(either him or Macdermid could have been crowned the Heavyweight champ last year).
Without either of them, the Flames are pretty soft in that regard. Kevin Rooney is not the answer, as he has lost to the likes of Chris Kreider and Cedric Paquette.
I personally like to have one or two guys on the Flames who can chuck them and throw them effectively, which is why it was nice to have Guddy and Looch. Based on what John Stevans said, Sutter likes that as well.
