But at $3.75M he's not all that overpaid and the sweetener would be much smaller or non existent depending on how teams value his leadership and uber-toughness.
If the Bruins want him it wouldn't surprise me if the Flames don't have to do much more than retain.

You say this like retaining a couple mill isn’t a massive deal on its own. Even if only one year
Trading lucic gives the flames cap space of 8 mill.
Retaining 2mill means a lesser quality player can get signed this year
