Just giving credit where credit is due.
Playing your game:
It is your actual view that the Flames had an epic failure in the Oiler series and it should have been a cake walk and no real cause for celebration had the Flame shredded the Oiler patch work defense as expected.
In your mind do you really expect that the Flames will finish 7 or more points ahead of the Oilers in the regular season and it would be shocking that the Oilers finish in the top-3 with their substandard defense?
as to the Flame defense depth being exposed with the Tanev injury the Oilers beat the Flames playing the worst starting goalie in the NHL or a the very best the worst goalie on a playoff team.

Holy moly bud, a lot to unpack here.
First the Flames/Oilers series…. Jakob Markstrom was a Shooter Tudor that’s the end of the story. Flames led 3-1 in game 2 and that should have been easy to close out. They go up 2-0 and likely finish the Coil in 4 or 5.
I expect the Flames to be 7 points better than the Oilers in the regular season. I am expecting the Oilers are going to be fighting for a playoff spot and likely only get in as a wildcard if at all. Their defense and goaltending is significantly weaker and they will get over the coaching bump from the Beav.
The Oilers are a team who should not have gotten by the first round and certainly wouldn’t have without Doughty being on LTIR. Then run into Markstrom doing his Kosky impersonation. Then got absolutely annihilated by the Avs. The Oilers are not truly a ‘made it to the Conference Finals’ caliber team. They stand a higher chance of missing the playoffs than repeating that.
