Also, I believe the alternate is true where a Canadian citizen living in the U.S. would be allowed entry into Canada even if unvaccinated. Both countries have the same law where any citizen can always return to their home country. In Canada there might be a quarantine ask, I'm not sure.

I crossed into the US about 3 weeks ago at a land crossing and they asked if we were vaccinated but didn't look at the proof. Coming back into Canada last week we were told using ArriveCan was mandatory, which includes uploading your vaccine proof. They didn't ask to see the app barcode but did scan our passports, not sure if that gets linked to your ArriveCan submission. But if you're a citizen they can't prevent you from entering, I think there is still a 2 week quarantine in Canada if you aren't vaccinated though.
