Big difference this year is the team is coming off a top 3 finish in goals against. The summer they got Bouwmeester came off a year where they struggled to keep the puck out of their net. The also had a really strong year in goals against in the first year with Bouw but had horrible goals for and that was the season it all went off the rails with Phaneuf and Jokinen being traded for depth scraps to try and bolster the offense.
This current flames team was a top 3 defensive team that still has an elite goalie and swapped a third pair guy for a top pair guy. 3 of the top 4 from last year were still only 25 last year and have room to grow
