My aunt developed it at 79, and by 81 she was a physical husk of herself, but mentally she was 100%. It took her from putzing around her beautiful garden to bed ridden and 75 pounds and completely disabled in a year. She opted for MAID 2 months ago, 20 months after the onset of symptoms.

I was glad she got to go out on her own terms, and I got the chance to exchange some emails with her near the end, and say good bye. It was amazing to me the courage and acceptance someone facing their final days displays.
