I agree. Basically they scratched Gaudreau’s name off their last offer and penciled in Huberdeau. There was no way he was signing for a penny less or any worse structure in my opinion. There also was not going to be a team that would beat the $84M the Flames offered.
The Flames needed this for the fanbase after having their 2 franchise players decide to move on after their best season since 89 and their second series win since 04. It worked out for both sides but the Flames did pay a premium to make it happen
