The goalposts moved from the trade being bad because they received only one year of Huberdeau to the deal being bad because they signed him long term. I guess they are just going to let McDavid and Draisaitl walk at the end of their current deals because they will be worthless on their next deal.

Funny thing is that they likely won't have any choice as one or likely both are gone when at the end of their deals. I wonder if they will do what the Flames did with Gaudreau and keep them on the last year in hopes of re-signing or trade them one year early. Would get a massive deal for McDavid but I'm sure the Oilers would find a way to botch the return.
