The stretch from Golden to Donald is actually a lot tougher than you might think. There are a lot of small roads turning on/off TC1 on the stretch and small dwellings right beside the highway, so it would require more interchanges and/or side roads, but the topography is generally tough with steep slopes on one side and the train tracks and river on the other.
It's about 25km. If they could at least build 2-3 good length passing lanes it would help a ton.
I haven't been since the pandemic started, but I think they have been doing a bunch of clearing in Glacier NP to twin some sections. Twinned the whole way someday would be great, but a bunch of strategically placed passing lanes would go a long way in the short term.
