We used to own a cabin on Shuswap and I've driven that route at least 10 times a year for almost 15 years. Tops of the uphill passing lanes just before and just after Golden - they are the true gold mines for the police. I wouldn't go as far as calling them asshats for doing this; they have their monthly ticket quotas and why wouldn't they if it's so easy; but this is absolutely a deplorable tactic. Again, a simple and sensible solution would be to mandate the large vehicles staying in the right lane on those sections and have their speed limited at 90, while allowing the left lane to go 110-120.
