I doubt any of Tkachuck Huberdeau or Gaudreau match last years point totals. 2021-2022 looks to be that once a decade season in terms of offensive outliers. So long as Covid outbreaks do not make a comeback that shuts teams down, and reshuffles the schedule, I expect coaches will be implementing a lot more structure into teams. Less fatigued guys and more practice time will result in tighter checking games. There were as many guys score 40 goals last year as there were 30 in some prior years. It was the best season for offence in nearly 30 years.

In the case of Huberdeau, I would expect Sutter will want the team to be a lot more like Carolina in terms of clamping down on chances against. The Canes could score more, but Brind'Amour has them really focused on shots and chances against. My guess is that Sutter has a lot of ammo from round two that he will use to get the team more focused on chances against. The Flames might score 40 less goals to cut their goals against down by 10 type of thing in preparation for being a tougher playoff team.

So Huberdeau may only score 80 points. But if he plays in 23 playoff games...it will be his most successful season yet.
