Generally no, it isn’t just a “push the power up and go faster to make up time” option. If you go faster than planned it’s winds.

The slight amount faster airspeed one can actually go won’t make a dramatic difference, but it will burn significantly more fuel.

So it was winds, not because the pilot “decided to speed up.”
