Meh, unfortunately I don't think Colorado has much to worry about. Byram likely forces his way into the top 4 making Girard the odd-man out.
Moving Girard gives them about 32M in cap space:
Landeskog-
Mackinnon-Rantanen
Nichushkin-
Newhook-Lehkonen
O'Connor
-XXX-XXX (3.5M)
XXX-XXX-XXX (3M)
XXX-XXX (1.5M)
Toews-Makar
Byram-Manson
XXX-XXX (3M)
XXX (1M)
Gives them 20M to sign Mackinnon, Newhook and Byram. Girard likely bringing in a forward on an ELC to play on the third line and fill the ranks with other low priced players (like Cogliano and Helm veterans or Olausson type ELCs). MacKinnon with a 12x8, one of Byram or Newhook on a bridge contract and the other signed longterm taking up 8M, re-sign the other when the cap jumps.
