I'm not sure I agree with that statement however I certainly agree Valimaki will not crack Calgary's blueline for at least 2 years with the depth ahead of him. I think as elite prospects and sites like that show there is a variety of talent in team pools and no teams prospect group checks every box.
Columbus just paid a good 5-6 defenseman top 4 money at $4 mil a year for 4 years. I suspect their prospect pool isn't so hot on defense for example. Could be wrong. Not every teams pro scouts are on the ball.
The kids big and can skate and not every team has size that can skate. Keep in mind this is exactly where everyone was on Kjillington 2 years ago.
I bet 8-10 teams wouldn't mind trying him for a spin. The coaches we had prior to Sutter played him.
Value? 2nd? 3rd? a young winger who could use a change like Valimaki could?
