I wonder if the term was player or gm's preference? Risky for the player. I would have thought he'd want term. He's already 26. If he doesn't keep putting up 30 plus goals this could be his biggest payday. Maybe this is why Tre didn't want to go long. That or he just needed to keep him under 6 million and 3 years was the only way to do it.
Edit. Reading AC's point on Mangiapane's agent talking 7 million plus, this 3 year deal makes sense from the Flames point of view.
