So get a 1st, contract and a decent prospect was worth more than seeing this team win a round for the first time in 7 years and win the division for the second time in 4 years?
I truly think Treliving shopped Johnny the couple years before the trade and got garbage offers.
What happens if Treliving gets the return of a 70pt player with a year left on his deal and Johnny scores 40+ and 115pts with the new team? He gets shredded for trading an elite player for a mediocre return and the talk will be how the Flames could never get enough out of Gaudreau and the organization is broken etc.
