If trying to do it in one contract. 5 year $6.0-6.5M, more front end weighed, NMC for entire terms of deal, but a handshake deal for Leafs being the only team NMC exempt at any time.
Or does he take a 3 year deal now worth 7-7.5 with more money up front, hope he is still healthy and productive after those 3y and have the Leafs acquire him for nothing and pay him less, in 3y as a UFA.
Either way, still don't want him. He didn't want to come here before no matter what innocence he pleads (same innocence he pled on his suspension hearings for hits to the head), and most importantly, I don't think he's going to reach the stats to be value for he's paid, nor still bring all the intangibles he has (better or worse) to make him the player is, now after getting paid and winning a cup.
His value and profile is and has been pumped by being the best of the rest remaining and an eastern media that wishes he could still be in Toronto too, we've seen how that has blown up numerous times before (Karlsson).

Why do you think he wants to go back to Toronto?
