IMO we would not be able to afford our universal healthcare without the funds generated from the selling of our hydrocarbons.
I believe our energy industry, on a scale of one to ten, would be near the top of importance to our nation, and to the world at large.
Anyone who thinks our energy industry is going to disappear, for the sake of Climate Change, is living in fantasyland. Just imagine how many things come from our oil, and how disruptive life would be, financially and practically without it.
