I hear you. I've been in the C-suite for much of the last decade and have my #### you money,so like you, I do what I do because it's what I want to do. Part of that is still teaching and working with students. The most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life is teaching students, challenging what they think they know, and making them think critically about issues and for themselves. The coolest thing in the world is seeing a student you influenced be welcomed into the academy and them mentioning your instruction as shaping their perspective and driving them through their program. The only thing more rewarding is donning the regalia and shaking the hands of every graduate each year. The look on those faces keeps you going. I get it. It took a lot to leave academia full time, but even doing the adjunct stuff is still rewarding in its own twisted way. Good on you for following the path you did.
