I don’t see the big difference between what they did TBQH.
Gaudreau didn’t sign a long term deal when he had one year of left team control. Gave the Flames a list of 5 teams to whom he would accept a trade. And told them he wouldn’t negotiate during the season. It was the club who decided to roll the dice here.
That doesn’t change that he didn’t seem to handle it very well at the very end but in the big picture that was meaningless.
But a year ago, he didn’t do much different than Tkachuk.
Do you think the Flames told Brodie a year before he left that they didn’t plan on bringing him back unless their other options fell through?
