That said, everyone is an expert on farming until it is your debt and equipment. Farming needs to be profitable, unless you want to live in a future where Monsanto, Walmart and Amazon own the farms.
Yes, there is room for improvement, yes there are big consequences to pricing out smaller farmers. Yes farmers should modify their practices. Yes consumers should take accountability for their product choises.

That's not very accurate. Zero-till or as close to it as possible is pretty much the norm these days (especially in the moisture challenged southern areas). Fertilizer is still needed regardless.
