There's no need to spend any more assets and cap space on wingers. Yes we lost 2 stud wingers and replaced them with 1 but reconstructing the team with better D (done with Weegar) and stronger up the middle is a much better blueprint for success than having 2 stud, expensive wingers anyways.
The true need is a center to play behind Lindholm. Ideally would be more of a playmaker than scorer as all our wingers are more finishers than play makers with the exception of Huberdeau.
With the rest of the roster as currently constructed, the Flames are a legit Cup contender the day Backlund is legitimately the #3C and the only way that happens is adding a top 6 C, not winger.

I’ve mentioned Barzal wondering if he could be had for the right price. Would the islanders consider a trade for Barzal centered around hanifin?
Something like:
Hanifin + Coronato/Zary + Florida’s first round pick
For Barzal + conditional 2nd/3rd round pick
He fits the bill as a playmaking center. Lots of speed and lots of skill. Only 25 years old.
